KOMAN reconstructed a 2,500 lf x 75 ft wide concrete taxiway interconnects RWYs 14-32 and RW 01-19. Specific key requirements for this project were to keep the runways active during all phases of construction and prevent and/or minimize disruption to air traffic.
This was accomplished by careful coordination between USAF airfield managers and the KOMAN management team. The project involved the complete demolition of the taxiway pavement full depth, installation of drainage features, revisions to electrical duct banks, airfield lighting upgrades, and new instruction signs. The new pavement section consists of 12” of soil cement, 4” drainage layer, and 16” of PCC pavement. Site restoration and completion work included shoulder grading, establishing final erosion/sediment controls, and striping.
